The 12-week open online course on Responsible Leadership aims to develop critical thinking about the theory and practice of responsible leadership, examining different theories and focusing on dialogical leadership which enables transparent and effective deliberation.
Course objectives
Upon completion of the Responsible Leadership course, you will be able to:
- Critically evaluate leadership theories, to apply theories on leadership in different contextual situations;
- Identify challenges with regard to leadership in practice, and investigate responsibility as guiding ethical principles for leadership;
- Create an ethical framework of understanding leadership related to business, societal and cultural environments;
- Draw on learning content from across the course to create meaningful and values-based statements on leadership within their own professional contexts.

Final Assignment
This open online course is designed to equip leaders and professionals at all levels, whether they currently hold a leadership position or not, in any organisation or context, with the right concepts, tools, and levels of awareness and understanding to shape their ethical mindset, behaviours and decision-making capacity, contributing ultimately to better functioning teams, organisations, and societies. It is held 100% online to facilitate flexible, accessible learning no matter where participants are located, and is run over 12 weeks, focusing on one unit each week.
Schedule
The Responsible Leadership course will begin in the week commencing 18 September 2023.
The schedule for the weekly one-hour live sessions will be arranged with the input of the instructors and participants. All live sessions will be recorded and made available to registered participants on the course platform.
Workload
This 12-week course has an estimated total workload of 105 hours (including 1.5 hour live synchronous learning session every other week (9 hours total) and estimated self-guided study time, excluding additional time for facultative networking).
Assessment and certification
Participants electing for the Certificate Track course will take a Final Assignment at the end of the course, and will receive a Certificate on completion of all course requirements to verify their achievement and increase job prospects.

Classes conducted in English require upper intermediate proficiency in English to follow the live sessions and to read the course material.
Globethics Academy aims to make its courses inclusive and accessible to all. All open courses, unless otherwise stated, are available as Basic Track or Certificate Track options.
The Basic Track option, without final assignment and certificate of attendance, is free of charge.
The Certificate Track option is based on the World Bank Development Indicators. The price of the courses is adjusted depending on where in the world the course participant lives. Learners from lower-income regions will pay less than learners from higher-income regions.

Computing requirements
You will need broadband internet access and a desktop or laptop computer with an up-to-date version of Windows (10 or 11), or macOS (10.15 or higher).
It is also possible to access our learning management system on a mobile phone, tablet device, however, as you will have to download the moodle application for Android or MacOs.
For the assignments and final assignment, you will be required to use any word processor, such as Microsoft Word, Google Sheets, Pages, and convert it to a PDF, you can download it here.

It helps students to move between countries and to have their academic qualifications and study periods abroad recognised. This online/distance course is subject to the 4 ECTS, 8 CATS, and 2 USC credits avocational education system in the field of Individual Courses.
Course Registration
Registration for the course, including Stripe payment, can be completed fully online. A confirmation email with the online platform access credentials will be sent to all registered participants prior to the course start date.
The deadline for registration is 1 week (5 working days) prior to the start of the course.
