“Let's keep it up, let's get involved at all levels and in all issues for the common good, because this sense of the big picture is needed now more than ever and ethics is needed in all action”.
This stirring call by outgoing Board member Rita Astfalck was delivered in her opening message at the Globethics.net Board of Foundation meeting from 29 to 30 April 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland. It was the first in-person gathering since the Board members met in Buenos Aires, Argentina in November 2019.
The members of the international Board of Foundation, coming from Brazil, Canada, India, Indonesia, South Africa and Switzerland, appreciated their time together finding moments to meet with the global team online and in person and to celebrate as well as tackling a weighty agenda. The April Board meeting took into consideration the Annual Report 2021, the audited financial statements, a summary of which is to be found in the Annual Report 2021, management and Board Committee reports, updates and discussions on the work of the organisation and new policies.
Three new Globethics.net policies developed in the context of the institutional accreditation of Globethics.net were approved by the Board at the April meeting on data protection, harassment and/or discrimination and on disability, accessibility and inclusion.
In addition to the Board meeting proper, Board members engaged in a half-day Strategy Workshop as Globethics.net comes to the end of its Strategy 2019-2022 to look back on what has been achieved and to look ahead to new horizons. Guidance on the process, context and priorities from the Board will be brought into the new Strategy 2023-2027.
