During the brief event of presenting the two awards to the Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dorcus Isutsa on behalf of the university and to Mr Crispin Isaboke, the Globethics.net regional officer spoke about Globethics.net’s vision and mission to integrate ethics in higher education. He presented the organisation's ethical education ecosystem, including the accredited online courses offered as basic track and certification track; the publications; the free digital library; conferences both onsite and online; training of trainers workshops, and the Ethics Model of Excellence Tool (EMET). He went on to explain how higher education institutions can collaborate with Globethics.net to join forces in embedding ethics in higher education by signing partnership agreements or by joining the consortium. All of these are geared towards reversing the many challenges with which society is confronted as a result of unethical practices.
The Ag. Vice Chancellor on her part was particularly enthusiastic about ethics and said that ethics is indeed an important subject that needs to be integrated in all sectors of society. She pointed out that it is disheartening to see some of the unethical practices in higher education and singled out plagiarism as a big challenge. She went on to state that Chuka University was ready to collaborate and partner with Globethics.net to draw from the great wealth of resources at Globethics.net. In a special way, she invited the regional office to present a lead paper on Ethics in Higher Education at the 9th Chuka University Annual International Research Conference, held on the 24 and 25 November 2022.
