Abstract:
Environmental justice has always been on the agenda of Globethics. In 2014, the organisation decided to amplify religious voices in the sphere, advocating for a global and fair solution, by publishing the book: “Religions for Climate Justice: International Interfaith Statements 2008- 2014”. In 2023, Globethics became more actively engaged in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UN-FCCC) and the annual Conference of Parties (COP28) in Dubai, by organising a session entitled: “Listen to those who listen to the earth. A plea for an urgent ethical blue framework by indigenous populations and world religions.” Moreover, Globethics is glad to support the ethical leadership of societal actors, especially indigenous and faith-based actors, by offering to policymakers and the global audience at COP28 and beyond, three open-access volumes including a selection of key messages and statements issued by a) interfaith initiatives, b) indigenous communities, and c) religious actors. In facing the climate crisis, which has become a life and future crisis, all voices are needed. A special attention to indigenous and religious voices is due, since they represent in many cases the voiceless yet most impacted populations, and are heirs of ethical and spiritual wisdom, able to reframe the issue beyond economic and political agendas.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Conflict sensitive reporting has become an important field of research since the Norwegian prof. Johan Galtung started his research into peace and conflict resolution, which has been further developed by several authors, such as Mari Holmboe, Jake Lynch, Annabel McGoldrick, Erving Goffman, or Nadine Bilke. In the present work, this model has been used to analyse the conflict reporting of the Boko Haram crisis in Nigeria, which has become the 2nd deadliest conflict in the country only after the Nigerian civil war of 1967-1970 and has claimed more than 16,000 lives since its start in 1999. This research will conclude that the Nigerian print media were not equally conflict sensitive in the coverage of the Boko Haram crisis between the period under case study.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This publication focuses on the research question: “What can the potential role of Christian worship in the Great Lakes region be to promote reconciliation and peace and healing after social and ethnic violence and conflicts?” The answer this book proposes is that a reconstructed Pentecostal Worship will significantly contribute to the process of reconciliation, peace-making, and healing of the ethnic groups in the Great Lakes region. The study theorises a Pentecostal practical theology backed in the theologies of reconstruction, politics and reconciliation. Using an empirical approach, this book draws on the spiritual, cultural, demographical and sociological potentials at the disposal of Pentecostal leaders to promote a reconstructed Pentecostal worship. It envisions a new praxis of spiritual potentials like prophecy, testimony, glossolalia, and emotional praising as opportunities to reconcile and heal people.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This publication articulated in three parts, and twelve chapters endeavours to engage with the complex negative emotions and consequent phenomenon of self-deceit, radicalisation and extremism. First part: Emotions as Lines of Demarcation or Guidelines to Our Self. The Psychodynamic Surrounding of our Intentional Self; second part: Case Studies of Some Concrete Societal Encapsulations of the Negative Passions; and third part: Resisting the Colonisation of Tyrannical Affections. Possible Paths of Mitigating Radicalisation and Extremism. What kind of educational responses can be given to extremist claims of territory, identity, resources, power, and interpretations? How can a dialogue on unifying ethical principles and values aid in developing common grounds for preventing radical and extremist excesses? With authors from three continents, this publication endeavours to not only ask the uncomfortable questions with regard to the exteriorisation of human emotive predispositions and inclinations to ostracize, stigmatise and discriminate. The exit door from the extreme is also clearly presented, through four contributions, notably the interplay of Charvaka philosophy, Sikh wisdom on balanced forms of engagement with strong emotions.
